Across the Globe, We Are United in Our Dedication to Educational Rights

Our Family

Meghan C. Ouelega is the oldest (and the tallest!) of three girls. She was diagnosed with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) at the age of 4. She has a hyper and joyful personality, loving to run around, jump and continuously laugh out loud. While some moments can be difficult with Meghan, at the end of the day we always remember that she is our Lewuh, our reason and our blessing.

Seti A. Ouelega was born in Texas when Meghan was almost 2. Seti enjoys reading, playing the piano, and a multitude of sports, though track and field events are her favorites. Seti is interested in studying the brain and genetics when she goes to college. She wants to dedicate her studies to better understanding Meghan and others like her. From an early age, Seti understood that Meghan was different from her friends’ older siblings.
Meghan didn’t play with or take care of Seti as her friends’ older sisters did. Shrugging off Meghan’s inability to play and care for her, she discovered multiple ways to love Meghan the way she is. Seti enjoys spending time with Meghan and teaching her big sister new things.

The youngest of the sisters, Neeyo H. Ouelega was born in lowa after Meghan had already been diagnosed with autism. She likes painting, reading, drawing, playing the piano, and swimming. She enjoys going to the park and the swimming pool with Meghan. Neeyo raises autism awareness at her school by talking about her big sister. She also does presentations on autism during Autism Awareness.

Dr. Sylvie Nguena is a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst. She left a career as a Certified Public Accountant with a major commercial bank to better understand and support her first-born child, Meghan. That quest led Sylvie to complete her second master’s degree in special education at George Mason University. She also earned her Ph.D in Applied Behavior Analysis from the Chicago School. She currently works as a behavior analyst with a non-profit that supports people with developmental disabilities. Sylvie has trained many professionals and family members working with people with disabilities. She has attended conferences and seminars as a keynote speaker, and participated in activities to raise awareness on autism locally and internationally, sharing her experience as a professional and as a parent of a child with autism. Her joys are spending quality time with her family, walking in the woods, and traveling around the world to raise awareness on autism and to help improve lives of people diagnosed with autism and other related disorders.

Our Approach

We Facilitate Safe Learning Spaces

At the heart of our approach is the belief that every child deserves a safe, supportive, and inclusive space to learn. We achieve this by connecting with schools, educators, and families to foster environments where children with disabilities can thrive as we work to remove stigma. Through our book Marvelous Meghan: Our Big Sister, we lead author presentations at elementary schools that spark meaningful conversations about kindness, acceptance, and diversity. We also help fund educational opportunities, such as tuition support for children with disabilities in Cameroon, ensuring that learning is not limited by financial barriers. On social media and in community events, we share stories and resources that educate and inspire others to create inclusive spaces in their own lives. By building networks of support and raising awareness, we are not only advocating for safe learning spaces, we are creating them.

— Our Story

The Marvelous Meghan Foundation was born out of love for our sister and daughter, Meghan, who was diagnosed with autism at the age of four. Through her journey, we have witnessed both the challenges and the beauty of living with disability. Our family chose to transform these experiences into action—building a nonprofit that amplifies the voices of those too often overlooked and provides support where it is most needed.
